According to the 2023 New York Clean Industry report, New York State added nearly 6,000 clean energy jobs from 2021 to 2022, outpacing overall job growth across the state. To continue that growth, Gov. Kathy Hochul last week announced a $45 million Clean Energy Training Initiative. Hudson Valley Community College’s longstanding training partnership with National Grid is one initiative that will benefit from the new state funding.
The application period opens Dec. 20 for National Grid’s new Electric Worker Scholarship that will widen the pathway to jobs with the utility company for students pursuing an Electrical Construction Maintenance (AOS) Degree or Overhead Electric Line Worker Certificate at HVCC in the upcoming academic year.
National Grid employees, who graduated from these programs at HVCC, are featured in a news report aired Dec. 18 on WRGB CBS News 6. Please click here to hear the report and read an accompanying article.
